Generation 2 (G2) Dissector - With re-engineered side knob profile
The Maxxis Dissector is back, and it’s better than ever. Already a favorite among trail riders for its rolling speed and versatility, the Dissector returns with a range of significant updates that take cornering precision, braking traction, and overall ride feel to the next level.
At the heart of the redesign is a completely reengineered side knob profile. Featuring a larger footprint and reshaped sipes, the new side knobs deliver exceptional stability and predictability—especially when pushing hard into corners on dry, hardpacked terrain. By resisting deflection under load, the upgraded knobs boost both durability and control while giving riders quicker engagement and a more confident, locked-in feel through turns.
The center tread stays true to the original’s fast-rolling 2-3-2 layout, but the central “3” has been split into individual knobs for improved terrain conformity and enhanced braking traction. Meanwhile, transition knobs were pushed outward, ensuring a smoother, more consistent lean-to-edge feel that complements aggressive riding styles. Like the side knobs, the center tread also benefits from revised siping that increases grip and extends tread life.
These refinements make the new Dissector more versatile than ever. It’s a standout front tire for short- to mid-travel trail bikes in the 130–140mm range, especially when paired with a fast rear option like the Maxxis Forekaster or Rekon. On longer-travel setups (150mm+), the Dissector shines as a fast, grippy rear tire in dry conditions, delivering the speed riders crave without sacrificing control.
Whether you're racing, chasing PRs, or just pushing the limits on your local trails, the new Maxxis Dissector is built to go faster and corner harder.
The new Dissector is available now in a 29x2.40 size with EXO, EXO+, and DoubleDown casing options and a choice of MaxxTerra or MaxxGrip rubber compounds.
Key Features
- Fast-Rolling Center Tread: Ramped knobs reduce rolling resistance for speed on dry hardpack and loose-over-hard surfaces.
- Aggressive Side Knobs: Provide reliable cornering support and braking traction.
- Casing: DoubleDown (DD) casing to suit trail to gravity disciplines.
- MaxxTerra Compound: A balance of grip and durability (MaxxTerra)
- Tubeless Ready (TR): For lower pressure and improved grip without pinch flats.
Ideal For
- Trail, Enduro, and Downhill Riding
- Dry, Hardpack, Rocky and Rooty Conditions
- Font Tyre, Paired With Faster Rolling Rear and or Rear Tire Use for Fast Rolling and Grip
- Riders Looking for Speed Without Sacrificing Control
- Best Use: Commonly used as a rear tire paired with a more aggressive front (e.g. Maxxis Assegai or Minion DHF), but can also serve as a fast-rolling front tire for less aggressive terrain.
