Maxxis Assegai / MTB Tyre
27.5 x 2.60 3C MaxxGrip DD TR 120x2TPI Folding Tyre
World Cup Champion Greg Minnaar's signature tyre.
The Maxxis Assegai tyre is named after the iron-tipped spear used by the Zulu people of South Africa. Greg Minnaar, a native of South Africa, thought it was a fitting name for a tyre ready to do battle on the mountain. The tall knobs punch through dust and loam to find traction, but also offer support and confidence on wet roots and rocks. While other tyres excel only in certain conditions, the new Maxxis Assegai is built to go fast everywhere.
3C MaxxGrip compound uses the stickiest, slowest rebounding rubber we offer in a mountain bike tyre. This high traction compound is the same one used by our top World Cup Downhill and Enduro World Series athletes and is now available in a variety of casing configurations to cover all riders.
DoubleDown (DD) is our casing solution for enduro racing and e-bike use. Two layers of our lightweight 120 TPI casing material are combined with a butyl sidewall insert to create a highly durable tire with more trail feedback than a Downhill casing tire. DoubleDown tires are marginally lighter than their Downhill counterparts, but it's really the difference in "trail feel" that sets the two apart. Some riders may prefer the highly damped ride provided by a Downhill casing tyre.
Maxxis have been making awesome bicycle tyres for many years. There are Maxxis tyres to suit a wide variety of applications like MTB, DH, BMX, Road and Urban. Many Maxxis bicycle tyres have an ebike rating too. Our friendly team at Wollongong Bike hub can help you select the most suitable tyres for your ride style and budget. Fit them yourself, or book your bike in to our workshop and let our mechanics do the job for you.
